**Thiruvananthapuram, June 17, 2025** – The Kerala government has unveiled a comprehensive plan to revamp its industrial training institutes (ITIs) through a hub-and-spoke model, with a total investment of ₹1,444 crore. General Education and Labour Minister V. Sivankutty announced the initiative at a press conference today, outlining the government’s vision for enhancing skill development and supporting the state’s growing investment climate.
The project will designate four nodal ITIs in Chakka (Thiruvananthapuram), Kalamassery (Ernakulam), Kozhikode, and Malampuzha (Palakkad) as hub ITIs, each supporting four spoke ITIs within its region, totaling 16. Each hub is slated to receive ₹200 crore in funding, while each spoke ITI will receive ₹40 crore.
Funding for the five-year project will be shared between the Union government (50%), the State government (33.3%), and corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds (16.67%).
“These hub ITIs will benefit not only ITI students but also students in the technological sector and trainers,” stated Minister Sivankutty.
