Sat Jun 14 23:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Rangers’ Evan Carter Exits Game with Sore Wrist After Diving Catch
**ARLINGTON, Texas** – Texas Rangers center fielder Evan Carter left Friday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox due to soreness in his right wrist, just three innings after making a spectacular diving catch that robbed Mike Tauchman of a hit.
The highlight-reel grab occurred in the top of the fourth inning, when Carter lunged forward and landed hard on his right hand while securing the ball with his glove. While he stayed in the game for another inning, he admitted his wrist hurt immediately after the play and felt “weird” during his fifth-inning flyout.
“I think it’ll be fine,” Carter said after the Rangers’ 3-1 victory. “It’s not broken or anything. It’s just jammed… landed on it pretty hard.” Carter said he planned to take medication to combat potential inflammation.
Despite the discomfort, Carter remains optimistic about his chances of returning to the lineup soon. “If I can tape it up and not move it and it doesn’t hurt, then I’m going to play,” he stated, adding that he would assess the wrist’s condition Saturday morning.
Manager Bruce Bochy echoed Carter’s optimism, suggesting the injury isn’t serious and a Saturday return is possible. “But more than likely he’ll get a day, see if we can get that calmed down,” Bochy said. “We’ll reevaluate him tomorrow and see where we’re at.”
Carter was replaced in the field in the seventh inning, with Wyatt Langford shifting from left field to center and Sam Haggerty entering the game in left. His exit comes at an unfortunate time for the Rangers, as Carter has been on a tear recently, hitting three home runs in his previous four games with multiple times reaching base and an extra-base hit in each of those games. He finished the game 0-for-2 with a walk.
The Rangers will be closely monitoring Carter’s condition and will provide an update on his status Saturday.
