Fri Jun 13 21:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Harley-Davidson Recalls Over 82,000 Softail Motorcycles Due to Crash Risk
**Washington D.C.** – Harley-Davidson is recalling over 82,000 Softail motorcycles due to a defect that could lead to tire damage and increase the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall, affecting models from 2018 to 2024, stems from a potential issue with the mounting tab on the rear shock pre-load adjuster. The NHTSA recall notice, dated June 12th, states that this tab may break, allowing the shock adjuster to damage the rear tire. This could lead to a loss of tire pressure, significantly increasing the risk of a crash and potential death.
While Harley-Davidson has reported no deaths or injuries related to this issue as of early June, the company is urging affected owners to take immediate action.
The recall affects the following 82,117 Harley-Davidson Softail bikes.
**Consumers who previously had their bikes repaired under recall 23V591 will still need to undergo the new remedy.**
Harley-Davidson dealerships will install a new bracket on affected motorcycles free of charge. Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners by June 16th.
