**Belagavi, Karnataka – June 14, 2025** – Incessant rains have caused significant flooding across parts of Karnataka, with the Unakal Lake in Hubballi overflowing on June 12th. Today, the Karnataka State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police personnel successfully rescued a 75-year-old woman, Gouravaa Bhuter, from her flooded home in Basavana Bagewadi, Vijayapura district.

Ms. Bhuter was trapped in her residence in the Laxmi Nagar area, on the outskirts of town, after floodwaters rapidly inundated the area. According to authorities, she was home alone as her children were at work and grandchildren at school. The SDRF and police worked together to safely extract Ms. Bhuter from her home and assist her to safety.

Residents in affected areas have been forced to evacuate their homes as water levels rose. Officials expect the floodwaters to recede later this afternoon. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines as the state continues to experience heavy rainfall.
