**One Survivor Found in Air India Plane Crash in Ahmedabad; 233 Dead**

Ahmedabad, India – A devastating Air India crash near Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport has claimed the lives of 233 people, making it India’s deadliest single-aircraft disaster in decades. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, flight AI-171 bound for London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff at 1:38 pm local time on Thursday, striking a multi-story hostel housing resident doctors of BJ Medical College. Among the fatalities were 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and five medical students on the ground.

Miraculously, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British-Indian businessman seated in 11A, survived the crash. Dazed, bloodied, and burned, Mr. Ramesh was able to escape the wreckage while his brother, seated across the aisle, perished.

According to air traffic control logs, the plane climbed normally after taking off from runway 23, before the pilot issued a Mayday call. Eyewitnesses reported hearing unusual engine noises followed by a steep nosedive. The plane, commanded by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kundar, then crashed into the southern wing of the hostel.

Mr. Ramesh recounted that his seat, located in the front row of economy class, was near an emergency exit and ended up on the ground floor of the hostel, allowing him to escape through a broken door. “The side where I was seated fell into the ground floor of the building. There was some space. When the door broke, I saw that space and I just jumped out.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the crash site and Mr. Ramesh at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. The survivor is currently under 24-hour monitoring and protected by security personnel.

The incident evokes memories of other aviation disasters with a single survivor, such as Cecelia Cichan in 1987 and Bahia Bakari in 2009.
