**MYSURU, June 13, 2025** – Annuru Gram Panchayat in Mandya district, Karnataka, has achieved remarkable recognition for a mass rangoli drawing event held on National Panchayat Raj Day, April 27th. A total of 1,418 rangolis were created simultaneously by 1,544 participants from the villages of Annuru, Alabujanahalli, and Karkalli, all within the Panchayat’s jurisdiction.

Organized to promote women’s empowerment and their involvement in local governance, the competition emphasized the use of natural materials such as rice, flour, turmeric powder, and colored sand. This focus aimed to preserve cultural heritage, encourage community participation, and raise awareness of grassroots democratic governance.
“We are extremely happy that this achievement was made possible through the active participation of women,” stated Ashwini M.R., Panchayat Development Officer of Annuru Gram Panchayat. “The support of senior officials, elected Panchayat members, and the administrative board was instrumental in this success.”
