**Ahmedabad, Gujarat -** A tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad claimed the life of Aryan Rajput, a 19-year-old MBBS student from Jigsouli village in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday. Rajput, a second-year student at BJ Medical College, was having lunch in his hostel’s mess when an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed into the building shortly after takeoff.
The Air India flight AI-171, bound for London, crashed in the Meghaninagar area, just 33 seconds after takeoff, impacting the medical college’s hostel at approximately 1:39 PM. At least 24 individuals, including Rajput and 241 passengers, are confirmed dead following the incident.
According to reports, Rajput had just finished eating and handed his phone to a friend, saying he was going to wash his hands, when the plane struck. His friend escaped the mess moments before the impact. The news of Rajput’s passing has plunged his family and the entire Jigsouli village into deep mourning.
Rajput, who cleared the NEET exam on his first attempt, was known for his dedication and hard work. His family, including his parents Ramhet and Rani Rajput, his sister Nikita, and brother Aditya, have been informed of the devastating news. Relatives have already left Ahmedabad with Rajput’s body and are expected to arrive in Gwalior later tonight.
“We are bringing Aryan’s body back from Ahmedabad. We expect to reach Gwalior by tonight,” said a cousin.
The crash has left a gaping hole in the community. Rajput’s aspirations of becoming a doctor have been tragically cut short. Villagers remember him as a bright and promising young man who had brought pride to their village.
The black box from the ill-fated aircraft has been recovered, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is collaborating with other central agencies to investigate the cause of the crash. The accident has sent shockwaves across the nation as officials piece together the events that led to this devastating incident.
