Tue Jun 10 12:43:02 UTC 2025: ## Global ChatGPT Outage Disrupts AI-Dependent Users
**New Delhi, June 10, 2025 -** OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, suffered a major global outage on Tuesday, June 10th, leaving countless users worldwide without access. Reports indicate India and the United States were among the hardest hit, with thousands of users reporting disruptions.
Data from the monitoring platform Downdetector shows a sharp spike in outage reports around 3:00 p.m. IST, with over 800 complaints originating from India alone. The primary issue reported was ChatGPT’s unresponsiveness to user queries (88%), followed by problems with the mobile app (8%) and API-related errors (3%). Users trying to engage with the chatbot were met with error messages such as “Hmm…something seems to have gone wrong” and “A network error occurred. Please check your connection and try again.”
The widespread outage quickly dominated social media platforms, where users expressed their frustration and highlighted the growing dependence on AI tools in their daily lives. Many shared humorous memes to cope with the interruption.
OpenAI has acknowledged the issue on its system status page, confirming that both ChatGPT and its text-to-video platform Sora were experiencing problems. “Some users are experiencing elevated error rates and latency across the listed services. We are continuing to investigate this issue,” the company stated. However, OpenAI has yet to provide a specific timeline for when the service will be fully restored.
The outage underscores the vulnerability of relying heavily on AI technologies and serves as a reminder of the potential disruptions that can occur when these systems fail.
