Tue Jun 03 05:00:00 UTC 2025: **Yankees Stun Dodgers, Avoid Sweep in Series Finale**

**LOS ANGELES** – The New York Yankees salvaged the final game of their weekend series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, defeating the home team 7-3 on Sunday and avoiding being swept for the first time this season. After being outscored 26-7 in the first two games of the highly anticipated World Series rematch, the Yankees turned the tide, powered by a strong pitching performance from Ryan Yarbrough and timely hitting.

Yarbrough (3-0), a former Dodger, held the potent Los Angeles offense to just four hits over six innings, allowing only one run and striking out five. He received his World Series ring before the game. On the other side, Dodgers’ starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-4) struggled, surrendering a season-high seven hits and four runs in just 3 2/3 innings.

The Yankees offense was sparked by Ben Rice’s tie-breaking two-run home run in the third inning. DJ LeMahieu also had a standout performance, recording his first four-hit game since 2021. Jasson Domínguez contributed an RBI single in the first inning before leaving the game with a bruised left thumb.

While Tommy Edman tied the game with a home run in the second for the Dodgers, the Yankees responded with a three-run third inning, including Rice’s homer and a wild pitch that allowed Anthony Volpe to score. They extended their lead in the fifth with RBI singles from LeMahieu and Oswald Peraza.

Despite home runs from Andy Pages and Max Muncy in the seventh, the Dodgers’ offense, which had been dominant in the first two games, was largely silenced. Notably, Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge, who had made history Friday as the first reigning MVPs to homer in the first inning of the same game, were both hitless. Judge was 0 for 4 with a walk and two strikeouts, while Ohtani went 0 for 4 with a strikeout.

The victory marks the fourth time this season the Yankees have avoided a series sweep. They are one of only three teams in the league yet to be swept in a series of at least two games.

The Yankees will look to carry this momentum into their next series against the Cleveland Guardians, with Carlos Rodón scheduled to start on Tuesday. The Dodgers will face the New York Mets on Monday, with Dustin May taking the mound.
