**Indian-Origin Man in Critical Condition After Police Encounter in Adelaide**

Adelaide, Australia – A 42-year-old man of Indian origin, Gaurav Kundi, is fighting for his life in an Adelaide hospital after a violent encounter with police early Thursday morning. Kundi, a father of two, is currently on life support with suspected brain damage following the incident.

According to reports, police were called to Adelaide’s eastern suburbs after a patrol unit witnessed Kundi and his partner, Amritpal Kaur, engaged in a heated argument. Despite Kaur’s explanation that Kundi was simply intoxicated and not violent, police reportedly mistook the situation for domestic violence.

Police claim Kundi violently resisted arrest, leading to the altercation. Footage obtained by 9News shows Kundi screaming as officers attempted to restrain him against a police vehicle. Kaur can be heard pleading with the officers to release her partner and accusing them of acting unfairly.

Kaur told 9News that Kundi lost consciousness after being tackled to the ground, alleging that an officer kneed him in the neck, drawing comparisons to the George Floyd case in the United States. She also stated that Kundi’s head was slammed against the police car and the road.

Kundi was subsequently transported to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he was diagnosed with severe injuries to his brain and neck nerves. His partner fears he may not recover from the coma.

South Australia Police have launched an internal investigation into the incident and are reviewing body-worn camera footage. Acting Assistant Commissioner John DeCandia stated that based on preliminary evidence, he believes officers acted appropriately, but the investigation is ongoing.
