Sun Jun 01 11:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Carty Carves Out Historic Innings, Propels West Indies to Victory

**DUBLIN, Ireland** – Keacy Carty etched his name into West Indies cricket history with a stunning 170 against Ireland in the third and final One Day International at Clontarf, Dublin. His remarkable innings, featuring 15 fours and 8 sixes, helped the West Indies secure a dominant 197-run victory via the Duckworth-Lewis method.

This phenomenal performance follows Carty’s equally impressive 102 in the previous match, where he rescued the West Indies from a precarious 46 for 2, eventually leading them to a formidable 352 for 8.

Prior to this series, the 25-year-old St. Maarten native had already been showcasing his talent throughout 2024, leading the West Indies in scoring with 560 runs at an impressive average of 62.22 across 11 innings.

Carty attributes his improved form to meticulous attention to detail and unwavering diligence. Head Coach Daren Sammy has praised the batsman’s emergence, highlighting his importance to the team.

Reflecting on the West Indies’ failure to qualify for the 2023 World Cup, Carty revealed that watching from the sidelines fueled his dedication and resolve over the past 17 months.

First selected for the tour of Netherlands and then for the West Indies squad in 2022, Carty’s journey began early, spurred by his father’s encouragement. His talent was first recognised when, in 2016, he hit a crucial half-century to guide the West Indies to their first-ever Under-19 World Cup title in Bangladesh. He then joined the Leeward Islands team later in the year, however, it took six years to receive call to the West Indies squad.

Carty’s patience, belief, and determination have been evident throughout his career, making him a valuable asset to the West Indies team.
