Sun Jun 01 11:30:00 UTC 2025: ## West Indies Struggle to Build Momentum Against England in Cardiff ODI

**Cardiff, UK -** West Indies faced England in the second ODI at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, after a heavy defeat in the first match. England won the toss and elected to bowl, citing the grassy pitch as a factor.

The West Indies innings began with a shaky start as debutant Jewel Andrew fell for a duck, caught off Brydon Carse. Brandon King (59) and Keacy Carty (103) steadied the ship with a solid partnership, with Carty reaching a well-deserved century. However, England’s bowlers, including Adil Rashid (2-34) and Matthew Potts, managed to restrict the scoring rate in the middle overs. England also didn’t help the West Indies batting as they shelled multiple chances.

West Indies captain Shai Hope contributed a fifty, while late hitting from Justin Greaves added valuable runs. However, wickets fell at regular intervals, preventing the West Indies from truly accelerating towards a 350+ total as at one point it seemed likely.

Eoin Morgan has stated that the West Indies may have to settle for 310 which would still be respectable.
