**Road Accidents in Tirunelveli Claim One Life, Injure Seven**
**Tirunelveli, India – May 28, 2025** – A series of road accidents in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu have resulted in one fatality and injuries to seven others.
In the first incident, M. Muthuraj, a 39-year-old manual laborer from Ariyakulam, died after a van collided with the motorcycle he was riding near Moolaikkaraipatti on Tuesday night. Muthuraj and his friend, Mariappan, were returning home when the accident occurred on Moolaikkaraipatti – Nanguneri Road. Police transported both men to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, where Muthuraj passed away from his injuries on Wednesday. Mariappan remains hospitalized. Moolaikkaraipatti police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
In a separate accident on Wednesday in KTC Nagar, on the outskirts of Palayamkottai, seven people sustained injuries when the van they were traveling in collided with a lorry. The occupants were on their way to a wedding in Veeravanallur. Three individuals, including the van driver, Samuel Raj, 45, from Muthaiahpuram in Thoothukudi, were admitted to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital as in-patients. The remaining four received first-aid and proceeded to the wedding. The Tirunelveli City Traffic Investigation Wing has opened a case and is investigating the cause of the accident.
