**Zomato Rider’s Integrity and Resilience Go Viral, Inspiring Thousands**
**Pune, India -** A Pune resident’s simple food order turned into a powerful lesson about grace, humility, and resilience thanks to a Zomato delivery rider. Shripal Gandhi’s Facebook post detailing the experience has gone viral, highlighting the extraordinary spirit of the rider and prompting calls for Zomato to be recognized for its employment practices.
Gandhi ordered a meal consisting of a paneer tikka sandwich, Bingo chips, and oat raisin cookies from Subway through the Zomato app. Only the sandwich arrived initially. When Gandhi pointed out the missing items, the delivery rider humbly suggested contacting the restaurant or Zomato.
After confirming the error with Subway, the restaurant offered the rider ₹20 to retrieve the missing items. However, the rider insisted on taking responsibility, stating, “Sir, it’s my responsibility. I want the customer to be happy.” He returned to Subway, collected the chips and cookies, and delivered them with a smile, refusing the offered ₹20. He explained, “God has given me so much. Why should I take this money for a mistake someone else made?”
Gandhi was further astonished to learn the rider’s backstory. He had previously worked as a construction supervisor at Shapoorji Pallonji, earning ₹1.25 lakh per month. However, a car accident left him partially paralyzed, forcing him to leave his job.
The rider credits Zomato with giving him a second chance and providing for his family, enabling his daughter to pursue dentistry. “Zomato kept my family alive,” he told Gandhi. “I may be handicapped, but I’ve been given an opportunity. I will never let Zomato’s name be affected.” He maintained a positive outlook, attributing his strength to his faith, saying, “God is with me. Why should I worry?”
Gandhi’s post concluded with a heartfelt message to Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, expressing gratitude for the company’s commitment to providing opportunities for people with disabilities. “You might not realize it, but your decision is changing lives in the most profound way,” Gandhi wrote.
As of this release, Zomato and Goyal have not publicly responded to Gandhi’s post. The story has resonated deeply with social media users, generating widespread praise for the rider’s character and renewed appreciation for Zomato’s role in providing opportunities to those facing adversity.
