**Early Monsoon Drenches Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam Braces for Arrival**

**Visakhapatnam, May 27, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh is experiencing an unusually early monsoon this year, with the Rayalaseema region already feeling its effects. Visakhapatnam is poised to receive the monsoon by May 31st, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), almost two weeks ahead of its typical arrival date of June 12-13.

The IMD attributes this accelerated onset to favorable weather conditions, including an upcoming low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal and a trough already situated over coastal Andhra Pradesh. “Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon in some parts of Andhra Pradesh over the next three days and all over the State including Visakhapatnam, by May-end,” stated IMD Scientist-C Karuna Sagar.

While the low-pressure area is not expected to bring heavy rains, it will contribute significantly to the monsoon’s advancement. A.P. Disaster Management Authority director R. Kurmanath confirmed the cloudy weather conditions across the state due to the monsoon’s arrival and other weather systems.

Significant rainfall has already been recorded in various districts, with Rajapanukulu in Alluri Sitharama Raju district leading with 56.5 mm. LBS Nagar in Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam, has seen 1.5 mm, while Narsipatnam and surrounding areas logged over 20 mm.

“This year, monsoon has arrived early,” noted Mr. Kurmanath, contrasting it with previous years where the monsoon arrived in June. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
