Sun May 25 07:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Arcane Creators Hint at Future for Fan-Favorite Couple, Reveal Original Season 1 Plans

**Alhambra, CA** – Despite the “Arcane: League of Legends” series concluding on Netflix months ago, the passion surrounding the Emmy-winning show remains vibrant. At a sold-out Variety conversation held at Alhambra’s Gallery Nucleus on May 10th, the creators behind the show shed light on the intense final season and offered tantalizing hints about what the future holds for beloved characters, particularly Caitlyn and Vi.

Screenwriter and co-executive producer Amanda Overton revealed a surprising fact: the emotional climax between sisters Jinx and Vi was actually envisioned over six years ago as the end of the *first* season.

“Originally, it was supposed to be one season,” Overton explained. “The big battle that you saw during [the final season] was actually the end of Season 1… That first version was a tragedy, because [the sisters] didn’t get to resolve any of their issues.” The decision to split the story into two seasons allowed for a more nuanced and ultimately more satisfying resolution.

The extra screen time also proved beneficial for the development of Caitlyn and Vi’s relationship, culminating in a passionate love scene that became the most-captured moment in Netflix history. Overton emphasized the importance of portraying their relationship free from the typical coming-out narratives. “I wanted the conflict around them getting together to be central to the story, but not *be* the story… This isn’t a world where there is homophobia,” she stated.

Fortiche Production’s Barthelemy Maunoury, co-director and creative director for the series, emphasized the dedication poured into animating their first kiss, a 40-second shot that took animators three months to complete.

When pressed about the future of Caitlyn and Vi, showrunner and executive producer Christian Linke remained coy, responding with a “no comment” that was met with enthusiastic applause from the dedicated fanbase. He hinted that while “Arcane” as viewers know it has ended, there’s more to come within the show’s universe.

Overton further fueled speculation by sharing her vision for the characters’ future, emphasizing their youth and potential for growth. “Now they get to ask themselves, ‘Who am I when I don’t have anyone to protect?'” she said. Overton also mused about the possibilities of exploring Vi’s role as a police officer and the potential for the duo to venture into the wider world, encountering other champions. “That would be dope and fun,” she concluded, leaving fans eagerly anticipating what’s next for the “Arcane” universe.
