Sat May 24 00:20:00 UTC 2025: ## SRH Stun RCB with 42-Run Victory, but Playoff Hopes Dashed

**Lucknow, Friday** – Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered a dominant performance, defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 42 runs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. Despite the victory, SRH’s playoff hopes were already extinguished, leaving them playing for pride.

RCB, chasing a daunting target of 231, were bundled out for 189. Captain Pat Cummins spearheaded the SRH bowling attack, claiming three crucial wickets for just 28 runs.

Earlier, RCB captain Jitesh Sharma won the toss and elected to field. SRH capitalized on the opportunity, posting a formidable 231/6, powered by a blistering 94 off 48 balls from Ishan Kishan. Romario Shepherd was the standout bowler for RCB, picking up two wickets.

While SRH can take solace in a convincing win, RCB still remain in contention for a top-two finish and a crucial second chance in the playoffs. However, this loss has made it more difficult.

“One of the top three needs to make a big score” one reporter mentioned about RCB. The loss of Patidar was a turning point in the match when the set batsman was run out.

The match saw Virat Kohli get off to a solid start for RCB, but ultimately failing to convert it into a significant score. For SRH Eshan Malinga was able to turn the game on its head and take wickets quickly.

“As per SRH, though it did come after they had been eliminated, a win is always a good thing” said a commentor after the game.
