**Gotham FC to Face Tigres UANL in Inaugural Concacaf Women’s Champions Cup Final**
**[CITY, STATE] – May 10, 2024** – Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is set to battle Liga MX Femenil’s Tigres UANL in the highly anticipated final of the first-ever Concacaf Women’s Champions Cup. The championship match is scheduled for Saturday at 10 p.m. ET.
Both teams secured their spots in the final after impressive semifinal victories. Gotham FC triumphed over Club América 3-1 in a challenging match played in windy and rainy conditions in Monterrey, Mexico. Tigres UANL dominated the Portland Thorns, securing a 2-0 victory with goals in the 10th and 27th minutes.
Gotham FC’s victory was fueled by a strong start. Brazilian striker Geyse opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a stunning volley. Midge Purce, returning from an ACL injury, converted a penalty to double the lead. A deflection off América’s Jana Gutiérrez further extended Gotham’s advantage. América managed a goal in the 38th minute, but the NWSL champions held strong.
Tigres UANL’s victory over the Portland Thorns was a dominant display. Aaliyah Farmer scored early, and Thembi Kgatlana capitalized on a goalkeeping error to secure the win. Despite tactical substitutions from the Thorns in the second half, they were unable to break through Tigres’ defense.
The winner of the Concacaf W Champions Cup will not only claim the inaugural title but also secure a coveted spot in the 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup and the 2028 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
