**Hulu Sets July Premiere Date for Sterling K. Brown-Led “Washington Black”**

**LOS ANGELES, CA – [Current Date]** – Hulu has announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated series “Washington Black,” starring and executive produced by Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown. All eight episodes of the straight-to-series adaptation of Esi Edugyan’s bestselling novel will be available to stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally on Wednesday, July 23.

“Washington Black” tells the extraordinary 19th-century story of George Washington “Wash” Black (Ernest Kingsley Jr.), an 11-year-old boy born into slavery on a Barbados sugar plantation. When a life-altering incident forces him to flee, Wash embarks on a globe-spanning odyssey, challenging his understanding of family, freedom, and love. Armed with an innate scientific curiosity, Wash must navigate uncharted lands and impossible odds as he strives to imagine a future beyond the confines of his past.

Alongside Brown and Kingsley Jr., the series features a stellar cast including Rupert Graves, Iola Evans, Edward Bluemel, Sharon Duncan Brewster, Eddie Karanja, and Tom Ellis.

“Washington Black” is produced by 20th Television in association with Indian Meadows Productions and The Gotham Group. Selwyn Hinds and Kim Harrison serve as showrunners and executive producers alongside Sterling K. Brown, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Wanuri Kahiu, Mo Marable, Rob Seidenglanz, Jeremy Bell, Lindsay Williams, D.J. Goldberg, Jennifer Johnson, and Anthony Hemingway.
