**Heavy Rain Dampens Karnataka Government’s Anniversary Celebration, but Spirits Remain High**
**Hosapete, Karnataka – May 20, 2025:** Despite torrential rain that caused flooding and traffic chaos, the Karnataka government proceeded with its “Pragatiyatta Karnataka – Samarpana Sankalpa” (Progressive Karnataka – Dedication Pledge) public meeting in Hosapete today, marking the two-year anniversary of the Congress government.
The event, held near Toranagal, saw many attendees seeking shelter from the downpour under a large canopy, while others struggled to find cover. Travel plans were disrupted as All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar were forced to abandon their helicopter journey and travel by road due to the adverse weather.
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, welcoming the crowd, hailed the rain as a “divine blessing” for a government he believes has fulfilled its promises. “Rain may bring inconvenience and damage to some, but it is a boon for countless farmers. On this day, as we celebrate two years of good, people-centric governance under the Congress, the rain is blessing us,” he said.
Prior to the arrival of the dignitaries, several ministers addressed the gathering, highlighting key achievements in their respective departments. A major highlight was the upgrading of unauthorized settlements into revenue villages, granting digital title deeds to residents and making them legal landowners. According to Minister Gowda, the government distributed 111,111 digital title deeds at the convention. He emphasized that Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had been instrumental in making this possible, with Kharge initiating the process during his tenure as Revenue Minister and Gandhi promising to help residents of Lambani hamlets obtain title deeds during a visit to Karnataka a decade ago. The current government has now enacted a law to realize that promise.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, the “Samarpana Sankalpa Samavesha” served as a platform for the government to showcase its accomplishments and reaffirm its commitment to the people of Karnataka.
