**Tragedy Strikes Kerala: Three-Year-Old Found Dead, Mother Suspected**

**KOCHI, INDIA – May 20, 2025** – A three-year-old girl was found dead in the Chalakkudy River near Moozhikulam Bridge in Ernakulam, Kerala, early this morning. Police suspect the girl’s mother, Sandhya, is responsible for her death and have taken her into custody.

The child went missing from Thiruvaniyoor panchayat on Monday evening after being picked up from her anganwadi. CCTV footage reportedly shows Sandhya carrying her daughter. Sandhya initially claimed the child went missing in Aluva, but inconsistencies in her story led to a police investigation.

Local ward member Beena Jose alerted police after finding Sandhya’s explanation suspicious, citing previous instances where she had allegedly hurt the child. A search was launched, and CCTV footage revealed Sandhya near the Moozhikulam bridge. Residents and police recovered the child’s body before a scuba team arrived.

Sandhya has been booked for murder, but her arrest has not yet been officially recorded. While familial discord has been reported, authorities are still investigating the situation.
