PARIS – The 124th edition of the French Open is set to commence from May 25 to June 8 at Stade Roland Garros, promising thrilling action on the clay courts. Iga Swiatek, fresh off her 2024 victory over Jasmine Paolini, will be looking to defend her title and secure her fifth Roland Garros crown.
The women’s singles main draw will feature 128 players, comprised of 104 direct entrants, 16 qualifiers, and 8 wildcards. Six of those wildcards have been awarded to French players: Lois Boisson, Elsa Jacquemot, Leolia Jeanjean, Chloe Paquet, Diane Parry, and Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah. Destanee Aiava (Australia) and Iva Jovic (USA) received the remaining wildcards as part of reciprocal agreements.
Joining Swiatek in the hunt for the title are top-ranked players Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Jessica Pegula. Former champions Barbora Krejcikova (2021) and Jelena Ostapenko (2017) will also be competing.
The tournament offers a significant prize pool, with the winner taking home $2,901,024 and 2,000 ranking points. Reaching the final grants $1,450,512 and 1,300 points, while semi-finalists will receive $784,983 and 780 points.
Other notable players to watch include Naomi Osaka, Ons Jabeur, and Emma Raducanu, who are set to enter the tournament unseeded. Petra Kvitova, Sorana Cirstea, Jodie Burrage, and Yanina Wickmayer have used special ranking entries.
While defending champions Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek are not the top seeds.
