**LAKE TAHOE, Nev. -** Zephyr Cove Elementary School’s fourth-grade class is putting their green thumbs to work with a plant sale aimed at funding their upcoming fifth-grade overnight field trip. The students, who have dubbed themselves the Mighty Cub Plant Pros (MCPP), have spent the past 16 weeks learning the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, from crafting a business plan to securing start-up funding from the ZCES Parents Club.

“It has been an incredible experience in gardening and entrepreneurship,” school officials stated.

Now, the fruits (and flowers) of their labor are ready for purchase. The MCPP are offering 10-inch strawberry and petunia hanging baskets for $20 each, as well as 6-inch pots of various herbs, including basil, thyme, parsley, mint, and chives for $10 each. Each basket proudly displays the name of the student who nurtured the plant.

The plant sale takes place on May 21st from 3:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the ZCES Grow Domes. Customers are encouraged to shop online in advance at zcesparentsclub.org for easy pickup. On-site purchases and tours of the Grow Domes and garden will also be available.
