**CANNES, FRANCE (May 17, 2025)** – The 78th Cannes Film Festival continues to deliver star-studded premieres. Day 5 saw the debut of two highly anticipated films: Lynne Ramsay’s “Die My Love” and Richard Linklater’s “New Wave”.
“Die My Love” stars Jennifer Lawrence as a woman spiraling into madness, with Robert Pattinson as her husband and LaKeith Stanfield as her lover. Sissy Spacek, Nick Nolte, and Sarah Lind round out the supporting cast.
Linklater’s “New Wave” reimagines the making of Godard’s “Breathless,” with Guillaume Marbeck portraying Jean-Luc Godard, Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg, and Aubry Dullin taking on the role of Jean-Paul Belmondo.
The “New Wave” premiere drew a crowd of celebrities including Damian Lewis, Naomi Ackie, Lucien Laviscount, and Quentin Tarantino.
Other films premiering today include Harris Duckinson’s directorial debut, Urchin, The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol by Sylvain Chomet, Orwell: 2+2=5 by Raoul Peck, and Le Roi Soleil from director Vincent Maël Cardona.
Premieres today include La Petite Derniére, The Wave by Sebastián Lelio, Bono: Stories of Surrender by Andrew Dominik, and Sons of the Neon Night by Juno Mak. Earlier pressers and photocalls included Sirât, Dossier 137, Arco, Amrum, The Plague, and The Mysterious Gaze Of The Flamingo.
Earlier buzzy premieres this week included Ari Aster’s Eddington, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone; Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut The Chronology of Water; and director Dominik Moll’s Dossier 137 starring Léa Drucker.
Looking ahead, the festival will host premieres of Wes Anderson’s “The Phoenician Scheme,” Spike Lee’s “Highest 2 Lowest,” and new works from Joachim Trier and Julia Ducournau.
The jury, led by Juliette Binoche, will announce the Palme d’Or and other awards at the closing ceremony on May 24th.
