**BJP Questions Congress’s Diplomatic Choices After Operation Sindoor**

**New Delhi – May 17, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is criticizing the Congress party’s selections for diplomatic delegations tasked with conveying India’s stance on terrorism following “Operation Sindoor,” a recent event triggering heightened tensions with Pakistan. The operation follows the Pahalgam terror attack.

The government nominated Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, to lead one of seven multi-party delegations abroad. However, the BJP is questioning why Tharoor wasn’t considered for other delegations and suggested the exclusion stemmed from jealousy within the Congress party towards his diplomatic skills and experience.

“No one can deny Shashi Tharoor’s eloquence, his long experience as a United Nations official, and his deep insights on matters of foreign policy,” stated Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT department, on social media platform X. “So why has the Congress Party chosen not to nominate him for the multi-party delegations being sent abroad to explain India’s position on key issues? Is it insecurity? Jealousy?”

The Congress party nominated Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain, and Raja Brar after a government request. The BJP has singled out several of the Congress nominations for criticism. Malviya highlighted a case involving Syed Naseer Hussain, stating that a supporter allegedly raised “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans after his Rajya Sabha victory. He also referenced Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s accusations against Gaurav Gogoi, alleging that he spent 15 days in Pakistan.

“How can MPs facing such grave allegations be trusted to represent India, particularly on matters involving Pakistan? What message is the Congress trying to send, and whose interests are really being served?” Malviya questioned.

The controversy underscores the political sensitivity surrounding India’s diplomatic outreach efforts in the wake of Operation Sindoor and the ongoing tensions with Pakistan. The UK and US continue to work with both nations to come to an enduring ceasefire.
