**GREENVILLE, SC -** A 19-year-old man from Greenville, South Carolina, is facing charges after allegedly threatening to assassinate U.S. Representative Nancy Mace.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) announced Thursday the arrest of Samuel Theodore Cain, also known as Roxie Wolfe, on charges of threatening the life of a public official.
According to an arrest warrant, Cain posted a threatening message on X (formerly Twitter) on April 26, stating, “I’m going to assassinate representative Nancy Mace with a gun and I’m being 100% dead ass.”
SLED confirmed that Cain admitted to posting the threat to federal agents on April 30. He has been booked into the Greenville County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Representative Mace acknowledged the threat in a social media post on Wednesday. She plans to attend Cain’s bond hearing and address the media afterward, she told WYFF 4 on Friday morning.
