Tue May 13 18:43:36 UTC 2025: ## Modi Warns Pakistan: Ceasefire “In Abeyance” After Recent Conflict

**New Delhi, India** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Monday, speaking publicly for the first time since last week’s conflict with Pakistan and warning that the recently agreed-upon ceasefire remains contingent on Pakistan’s future behavior.

Modi highlighted “Operation Sindoor,” launched in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 25, which claimed the lives of 26 people. He described the attack as showcasing the “most barbaric face of terrorism” and stated that the operation demonstrated India’s resolve, resulting in the “slaughter” of over 100 terrorists in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“Operation Sindoor was not just a name,” Modi declared, emphasizing the operation’s significance in conveying India’s unwavering commitment to fighting terrorism. He further asserted that terrorists now understand the repercussions of attacking Indian women, referencing a symbolic connection to the “sindoor.”

The operation, initiated on May 7th, had dramatically escalated tensions between the two nations, leading to a series of strikes and counter-strikes. While India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire agreement on Saturday, scheduled to take effect at 5 PM, reports indicate Pakistan violated the agreement within hours.

Prime Minister Modi’s address underscores the volatile nature of the relationship and signals that while a ceasefire is currently in place, its continuation hinges on Pakistan’s adherence to the terms and its commitment to curbing terrorist activities.
