**Los Angeles, CA** – Southern California is experiencing a slight reprieve from the weekend’s intense heat wave, with temperatures dropping a few degrees today. While still warm, highs are expected to reach 85-90 degrees in Downtown Los Angeles, 95-100 in the San Gabriel Valley, and 70s-80s along the coast. This is a welcome change after Saturday’s record-breaking temperatures, which saw Burbank reach 101 degrees, Woodland Hills hit 103, and Downtown LA soar to 99.
The extreme heat led to numerous heat-related rescues, with at least 15 people requiring assistance in Orange County, nine in Riverside County, and one hiker needing an airlift in Hollywood.
Significant cooling is forecast for Monday, with temperatures expected to drop 4-8 degrees along the coast and a more substantial 12-20 degrees further inland. Valley temperatures will be in the mid-60s to lower 70s. There’s even a chance of drizzle on Tuesday.
