Mon May 12 17:30:00 UTC 2025: ## IPL 2025 Resumes After Brief Suspension
**New Delhi, May 12** – The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will resume on May 17th after a brief suspension following air raid alerts in Jammu and Pathankot last week. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the revised schedule, which includes 17 matches across six venues, culminating in the final on June 3rd. The playoffs will be held at venues yet to be announced.
The resumption comes as a relief to fans after the tournament was halted following the abandonment of a Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala. The BCCI has instructed franchises to reassemble their teams, despite many overseas players having already departed.
Gujarat Titans currently lead the standings with 16 points, closely followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Several teams remain in contention for the playoffs, while Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals have been eliminated.
The announcement of the IPL’s resumption comes on the same day that former Indian captain Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket, ending a celebrated career with 123 Test matches and just shy of 10,000 Test runs.
