VISAKHAPATNAM, May 13, 2025 – The Communist Party of India (CPI) has accused the Andhra Pradesh state government of prioritizing the development of Amaravati, the state capital, at the expense of other regions. J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy, CPI state assistant secretary, criticized the government’s acquisition of an additional 40,000 acres of land for Amaravati, questioning the need for a new international airport and railway station so close to the existing infrastructure in Gannavaram. He also highlighted the allocation of land to various companies, including TCS and Franklin Templeton, alleging that promised development in these areas has not materialized. Furthermore, Murthy expressed concern over the lack of progress on the Bhogapuram International Airport’s connecting roads and the Vizag Metro Corridor, and accused the state government of inaction regarding the potential privatization of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. Meanwhile, the CPI Visakhapatnam District Council elected new office bearers.
