**YSRCP Accuses NDA Government of Undermining MNREGS, Cites Worker Suicide**

**VIJAYAWADA, May 13, 2025** – The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has launched a scathing attack on the coalition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Andhra Pradesh, alleging a systematic dismantling of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS).

At a press conference held at the party office, former MLA Monditoka Jaganmohan Rao claimed the NDA government has been undermining the scheme, designed to empower rural communities. He cited the termination of 12,000 field assistants, a halt in wage payments since March 15th, and a reduction in workdays from six crore in April 2023-24 (under YSRCP rule) to 4.5 crore in April 2024-25 as evidence of the scheme’s decline.

Adding fuel to the fire, the YSRCP highlighted the tragic suicide of a woman from Viparintalapadu village, Chandarlapadu mandal, Nandigama Constituency. The woman reportedly took her own life after facing public humiliation for exposing corruption within the MNREGS scheme. According to the YSRCP, she had recorded a video detailing fake muster rolls and unchecked corruption.

“Her sacrifice demands accountability,” declared Rao, further accusing TDP leaders of shielding the accused and ignoring her pleas for justice. The YSRCP alleges that the woman had reached out to MLA Tangirala Soumya and her husband before her death.

The police have registered the death as suspicious, while the woman’s husband cited stomach pain as the cause. The YSRCP has condemned this development as a failure of the coalition government to protect women’s lives and rural workers. The party demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the corruption allegations and the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
