Mon May 12 19:25:20 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Assembly Budget Session Cancelled Amidst Opposition Accusations

**New Delhi, May 13, 2025** – The second part of Delhi’s Budget Session, scheduled for May 13th and 14th, has been abruptly cancelled, sparking outrage from opposition parties. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of dodging accountability and concealing failures by avoiding the session.

The cancellation, announced via an official communication from the Delhi Assembly without explanation, followed the first part of the session in March, where Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented a ₹1-lakh-crore budget. The cancelled portion was expected to see the introduction of a draft Bill regulating private school fees.

Sources indicate the cancellation came from the Chief Minister’s Office, suggesting the Assembly will likely reconvene for the Monsoon Session in July.

AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj linked the cancellation to the recent US-brokered ceasefire between India and Pakistan, claiming the BJP is evading public scrutiny. Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav similarly accused the BJP of avoiding accountability for unfulfilled promises. Both parties allege the BJP is attempting to cover up its perceived failures.
