Tue May 13 01:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Southwest Monsoon Advances, Heavy Rainfall Predicted for Parts of India
**Visakhapatnam, [Date]:** The southwest monsoon, crucial for India’s agricultural sector, is making significant progress. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) anticipates its arrival in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and parts of the South and Central Bay of Bengal within the next 4-5 days.
A surface circulation is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal near Andaman on Wednesday, which could develop into a low-pressure area, according to weather experts. Scattered rainfall is expected across the state until the end of the month, though the IMD is yet to make a formal announcement on this. The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Tuesday and Wednesday, with further heavy rainfall in some Rayalaseema areas on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh is experiencing a severe heatwave. On Monday, temperatures soared to 43.7°C in Kakani, Palnadu district, with several other locations recording temperatures exceeding 43°C. Temperatures in 116 areas across 17 districts crossed 41°C. The State Disaster Management Authority anticipates maximum temperatures between 42°C and 43.5°C on Tuesday.
