Sat May 10 09:24:51 UTC 2025: ## Congress Condemns BJP’s Criticism of UPA’s Anti-Terrorism Stance

**New Delhi, May 10, 2025** – The Indian National Congress (INC) has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its social media post alleging inaction by the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in responding to terrorist attacks. The BJP’s post, featuring a video montage, contrasted the UPA’s approach with the current government’s stance, claiming a shift from “futile peace talks” to a stronger response under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor called the BJP’s move a “petty attempt to divide us politically,” deemed inappropriate and immature, particularly given the current national unity. He pointed to the 2016 Pathankot attacks as an example of the government learning the futility of appeasement, eventually leading to military action.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera echoed Tharoor’s sentiments, questioning the BJP’s timing and the need for political point-scoring at a time when national unity is paramount. He demanded clarification from the BJP and the government, asking if prioritizing political gains over national unity was the appropriate course of action. The Congress party has called for the removal of the BJP’s controversial post. The incident follows a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, prompting heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, and the launch of Operation Sindoor.
