BHUBANESWAR, India (May 10, 2025) – The Odisha state government has significantly increased security measures at key defense installations and along its coastline in response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the heightened alert on Friday, citing credible intelligence suggesting a potential attack originating from Pakistan, possibly via the Bay of Bengal.

The intensified security measures focus on the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, India’s primary missile testing facility, and the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. The state is working in close coordination with the Indian Coast Guard, enhancing coastal surveillance, and conducting thorough background checks on seafaring personnel. Local fishing communities have been urged to report any suspicious activity.

In addition to bolstering security, the Odisha government is actively working to bring back Odia students from high-risk areas. A dedicated cell has been established in New Delhi to assist with repatriation efforts.

While assuring citizens that there is no need for panic, Chief Minister Majhi expressed confidence in India’s ability to overcome any potential conflict. The Odisha Police have also conducted a comprehensive review of security protocols at strategic defense establishments.
