Sat May 10 08:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Launches Air Strikes on Srinagar; India Responds Forcefully

**Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India –** Pakistan launched air strikes on Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir early Saturday morning, prompting a strong response from the Indian armed forces. This follows a series of drone attacks targeting several Indian border districts on Friday night and Saturday morning. India’s air defense systems successfully intercepted these drone attacks.

Explosions were reported Friday evening in the Srinagar airport area, Samba and Jammu city in Jammu and Kashmir, Baramulla, Pathankot and Firozpur in Punjab, and Barmer in Rajasthan. Power outages were also reported in border areas following the attacks.

Amidst the escalating tensions, Pakistan-backed social media handles spread misinformation, falsely claiming the capture of an Indian female Air Force pilot, Squadron Leader Shivani Singh. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check swiftly debunked this claim. Similarly, Pakistan’s claim of destroying India’s S-400 air defense system with hypersonic missiles fired from JF-17 fighter jets was also refuted by the Indian army. This claim was initially reported by Pakistan Television (PTV) and subsequently amplified by the Chinese news agency, Global Times, citing Xinhua.

In a retaliatory action, the Border Security Force (BSF) destroyed a terrorist camp in the Pakistani border region near Akhnur, Jammu, in response to unprovoked firing from across the international border. The BSF confirmed the target was located in the Luni area of Pakistan’s Sialkot district.

Multiple drone attacks targeting military installations were launched across India’s northern and western borders on Friday, with one drone falling in a residential area of Firozpur. Indian forces reported detecting drones in 26 locations, from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat. Counter-drone systems were deployed to neutralize the threats, and a high alert remains in place.
