SINGAPORE (May 10, 2025) – Singapore has expressed grave concern over the escalating military conflict between India and Pakistan, issuing a strong call for both nations to de-escalate tensions through diplomatic channels. The statement from Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) follows a series of retaliatory actions.
The crisis began after India launched precision strikes against alleged terrorist launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7th, in response to a deadly April 22nd terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed 26 lives. Pakistan responded with a second wave of drone attacks across multiple Indian locations on May 9th.
Singapore’s MFA reiterated its condemnation of the Pahalgam attack and urged both countries to prioritize the safety of civilians. The MFA has also advised Singaporean citizens to defer non-essential travel to both India and Pakistan, urging those already in the region to exercise extreme caution, particularly near the border, and to monitor local news closely.
