**New Delhi, May 9, 2025** – Senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja has criticized several Indian television news channels for airing “inflammatory and misleading content” following the military operation codenamed “Operation Sindoor.” In a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Raja expressed deep concern over the channels’ communalizing of the issue, spreading unverified claims, and promoting war hysteria.
Raja stated that while the nation stands united against terrorism, this irresponsible reporting poses a significant threat to national cohesion. He highlighted that the lack of official confirmation from the government or armed forces makes the inflammatory coverage particularly dangerous. He further criticized the public broadcasters for adopting a similar tone, failing in their duty to inform the public accurately and responsibly.
The CPI leader also noted the blocking of news portals like TheWire.in, and reiterated the party’s unwavering support for a united stand against terrorism, grounded in constitutional values, democratic principles, and secularism. However, he strongly condemned attempts to exploit the Pahalgam tragedy to fuel hatred and division. Raja emphasized that the current media coverage is inflaming public anxiety rather than addressing it.
