**Bengaluru, India (April 29, 2025)** – Three Bengaluru-based institutions, including the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), have been named winners of the C-CAMP Anti-microbial Resistance (AMR) Challenge 2024-25. The challenge, launched nationally in August 2024 by the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), attracted nearly 200 applications from innovators and startups across India.

Nine winners were ultimately selected to receive funding and support to scale up and implement solutions addressing AMR in the environment. The winning projects will receive collaboration and support from C-CAMP in India and the UK Department of Health and Social Care’s Global AMR Innovation Fund (GAMRIF). This collaboration aims to foster the development of innovative solutions to combat AMR, not only in India and other low- and middle-income countries but globally.

Professor Ajay K. Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, highlighted the severity of environmental AMR, emphasizing the alarming rise in resistance due to unchecked industrial and agricultural effluents. He expressed optimism about the innovative solutions being developed in India. The winning institutions will work to translate their research into practical solutions for this critical global health challenge.
