Wed May 07 20:28:34 UTC 2025: ## Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Summoned Over “Anti-State” Remarks
**Lucknow, May 8, 2025** – A court in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh has issued a summons to Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, over his alleged remarks criticizing the Indian state. The notice, issued by Additional District Judge (ADJ-II) Aarti Faujdar, stems from a complaint filed by Simran Gupta, president of the Hindu Shakti Dal.
Gupta alleges that Gandhi’s statement, made during the inauguration of the Congress’ new headquarters in Delhi on January 15th, deeply offended the sentiments of many Indians. In the speech, Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of capturing national institutions, adding that the Congress was “fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian state itself.”
The court initially requested Gandhi’s appearance on April 4th, later extending the deadline to May 7th. Due to the absence of Gandhi’s counsel on Wednesday, the hearing has been rescheduled for June 16th.
