**PHOENIX, AZ –** Juan Soto blasted two home runs, and Kodai Senga overcame a shaky start to lead the New York Mets to a convincing 7-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Soto’s seventh and eighth home runs of the season powered the Mets’ offense. He connected for a solo shot off Merrill Kelly in the seventh inning and followed up with another against Jalen Beeks in the eighth. He also added a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Senga, despite walking five batters in the first three innings, ultimately pitched six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while striking out four. His stellar performance lowered his ERA to an impressive 1.16.

While Arizona’s Corbin Carroll hit his 11th home run of the season, it proved to be little consolation against the Mets’ strong showing. Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly, who recently battled cramping issues, pitched effectively until surrendering Soto’s first home run. He ultimately allowed three runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

The Mets’ Francisco Lindor contributed a two-run double, and a strong defensive play by Lindor, executing a perfect relay throw to nab Eugenio Suárez at home plate, highlighted the team’s performance. However, Pete Alonso’s 0-for-5 day snapped his 18-game on-base streak.

The Mets enjoy a day off before facing the Chicago Cubs on Friday, while the Diamondbacks take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday.
