**VISAKHAPATNAM, May 8, 2025** – A man impersonating an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official was arrested on Wednesday in Visakhapatnam for attempting to extort money from a Sub-Registrar’s office. B. Sudhakar, the accused, approached the Joint Sub-Registrar, Chakrapani, in Madhurawada, claiming to be an ACB inspector. He allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh to drop fabricated complaints of disproportionate wealth against the official. However, Mr. Chakrapani became suspicious and alerted the PM Palem police, leading to Sudhakar’s immediate arrest. The incident highlights a growing concern about impersonation scams targeting government officials.
