Mon May 05 15:00:00 UTC 2025: ## IPL 2025: Rain Washes Out SRH vs DC Match, Eliminating Sunrisers from Playoff Contention

Hyderabad, India – The 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was abandoned due to persistent rain. This effectively eliminates SRH from playoff contention.

Delhi Capitals, electing to bat first, posted a modest 133/7. Ashutosh Sharma top-scored with 41 runs, while Pat Cummins took 3 crucial wickets for SRH. However, heavy rain began before Hyderabad could begin their innings, forcing the abandonment of the match after a lengthy delay.

Both teams were awarded a single point. The result significantly impacts the points table. Delhi remains in fifth place, while SRH, with 7 points from 11 matches, drops to eighth. Even if SRH wins their remaining three matches, they would only reach 13 points – insufficient for a playoff berth. Following Rajasthan and Chennai, SRH becomes the third team officially eliminated from the IPL playoffs.

Delhi’s innings was characterized by a shaky start, losing early wickets to Cummins and other SRH bowlers. A late partnership between Ashutosh Sharma and Tristan Stubbs salvaged their score. SRH’s playing XI included Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Sachin Baby, Heinrich Klaasen, and Pat Cummins (captain), among others. DC’s playing XI featured Faf du Plessis, Abhishek Porel, KL Rahul (captain), and Axar Patel, among others.
