**TIRUNELVELI, INDIA (May 6, 2025)** – A sloth bear cub entangled in a wire fence near Manimuthar Dam in Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu, was successfully rescued and reunited with its mother Tuesday. Passersby discovered the injured cub near Pottal and alerted forest department officials. M. Ilaiyaraja, Deputy Director of the Kalakkad – Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve’s Ambasamudram Division, confirmed the rescue and reunification, stating that the mother bear was located nearby in the forest. The cub is now reportedly safe with its mother.
