Mon May 05 21:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Colman Domingo Honors André Leon Talley with Stunning Met Gala Tribute
**NEW YORK, NY** – Actor and Met Gala co-chair Colman Domingo paid a vibrant homage to the late André Leon Talley at the 2025 Met Gala. Domingo’s first look, a dazzling blue Valentino cape echoing Talley’s iconic 2011 Met Gala kaftan, perfectly captured the evening’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme, which celebrates Black dandyism and was inspired by Talley, according to Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton.
The striking cape, paired with a shimmering gold and silver bib, a statement necklace, and bold Boucheron earrings, was a showstopper. Later in the evening, Domingo changed into a second Valentino ensemble: a playful mix of a black and white checkered blazer, striped shirt, polka-dot tie, and flower-shaped brooch, all grounded by dark gray trousers and black flats.
Domingo, a Valentino house ambassador and frequent best-dressed list contender, revealed that his first outfit received the seal of approval from Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who texted him “work of art” after seeing a photo. This isn’t Domingo’s first Met Gala tribute to Talley; last year, he wore a cape-adorned suit honoring both Talley and Chadwick Boseman. Domingo explained his commitment to using his Met Gala appearances to honor influential figures in Black culture. His co-chairmanship this year reflects his longstanding commitment to bold and meaningful fashion choices.
