**New Delhi, India** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nationwide weather alert for May 6th, 2025, warning of widespread thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds. The IMD has issued yellow alerts for several states, including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. A more serious orange alert has been issued for the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. These areas can anticipate light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and potentially damaging winds of 50-60 km/h, with snowfall possible at higher altitudes in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. Travel disruptions are likely.

Central India will also experience varied conditions. Eastern Madhya Pradesh is expected to see thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (40-60 km/h) with light to moderate rain. Western Madhya Pradesh will continue to experience a heatwave, with temperatures reaching 42°C. Chhattisgarh will also see light to moderate rain and strong winds (40-50 km/h).
