**Hyderabad, [Date of Publication]** – Telangana is expected to escape the severe heatwave conditions typically experienced in May, according to the Hyderabad Meteorological Department (MET). The department’s forecast predicts widespread thundershowers, lightning, and gusty winds across almost the entire state until May 12.

Maximum temperatures during the first half of May are projected to remain between 36°C and 40°C, significantly lower than the usual 42°C to 45°C seen in previous years. The India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad has issued alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds across all regions of Telangana, varying in intensity.

Orange alerts, indicating severe weather, are in effect for several districts until May 7, with expected wind speeds between 40 and 50 kmph and hailstorms. Yellow alerts, signifying moderate thunderstorms, are also in place for other districts during the same period, with wind speeds between 30 and 40 kmph.

While some districts will experience higher temperatures (41°C to 44°C) until Monday, May 6th, temperatures across the state are expected to drop to between 36°C and 40°C from Tuesday onwards, lasting until the weekend.
