Mon May 05 16:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Hit by Unexpected Monsoon Downpour, Offering Relief from Scorching Heat
**Hyderabad, [Date]** – Hyderabad experienced a dramatic shift in weather today, as strong winds and heavy showers brought a much-needed respite from the oppressive heatwave that has gripped the city for days. The sudden downpour, which caught many off guard, caused temporary disruptions to traffic and pedestrian movement.
The Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) reported significant rainfall across several eastern and northern parts of Hyderabad and the Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Ghatkesar’s Ghanpur (NTPC) saw the highest rainfall at 53.5 mm, while other areas like Singapore Township (40.5 mm), Uppal (38.5 mm), and Peerzadiguda (36.5 mm) also experienced heavy downpours. Numerous other localities, including Malkajgiri, Moula Ali, and several areas in the city’s eastern suburbs, reported rainfall ranging from 18 mm to 30 mm.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly cloudy skies with a chance of light to moderate rain or thundershowers over the next 48 hours. Temperatures are expected to remain around 40°C maximum and 26°C minimum, with gusty winds anticipated during late afternoons and evenings.
In anticipation of further severe weather, the IMD has issued an orange alert for 14 districts in Telangana, warning of severe thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Hyderabad, along with Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, is under a yellow alert, indicating a lower but still significant weather threat. The unexpected rain, while disruptive, has provided temporary relief from the intense heatwave currently affecting the region.
