Mon May 05 04:12:28 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Violates Ceasefire for 11th Consecutive Night Along LoC

**Jammu, May 5, 2025** – Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated sharply as Pakistani troops engaged in unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the eleventh consecutive night. The attacks, which began on the night of May 4th and continued into the 5th, targeted eight forward sectors including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor. Indian forces responded with proportionate counter-fire.

The latest violations come amidst heightened tensions following the April 22nd terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. The firing spanned five border districts – Jammu, Rajouri, and Poonch in the south, and Baramulla and Kupwara in the Kashmir valley. Initially concentrated in north Kashmir, the attacks quickly spread southwards. The violations occurred despite a hotline conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries on April 29th, where India reportedly cautioned Pakistan.

Since April 24th, Pakistan has repeatedly violated the ceasefire, escalating actions that include airspace restrictions, border closures, trade suspension, and threats related to the Indus Waters Treaty. These actions have effectively rendered the 2021 ceasefire agreement null and void. The current situation marks a significant departure from the relative peace established in February 2021 when both countries reaffirmed their commitment to the 2003 ceasefire agreement.
