Mon May 05 07:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Maharashtra HSC Class 12 Results: Slight Dip in Pass Percentage, Girls Outperform Boys

**Mumbai, May 6, 2025** – The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Class 12 examinations today, revealing a slight decrease in the overall pass percentage. While 91.88% of students passed, down from 93.37% last year, the board chairman, Sharad Gosavi, characterized the 1.49% drop as insignificant, pointing to a similar pass percentage of 91.25% in March 2023.

This year saw no students achieving a perfect 100%, unlike last year. However, 4,500 students scored above 90%, and 20,943 received additional marks for excellence in sports or scouting. A total of 13,02,873 students passed out of 14,17,969 who appeared for the exam, which was taken by 14,27,085 registered students between February 11 and March 11, 2025.

Girls continued their trend of outperforming boys, achieving a 94.58% pass rate compared to 89.51% for boys. The Konkan division topped the nine divisions with a 96.74% pass rate, while Latur division had the lowest at 89.46%. Mumbai division significantly improved its ranking to third place (92.93%) after three years of consistently ranking lowest.

The Arts stream experienced a more significant drop in the pass percentage (80.52%), compared to Science (97.35%) and Commerce (92.68%), which saw only marginal decreases. Of the 154 subjects offered, 37 recorded a 100% pass rate.

Students can apply for mark verification and re-evaluation until May 20. Re-evaluation requires obtaining a photocopy of answer sheets at an additional cost. The MSBSHSE website provides contact information for counselors offering support to students.
